Marine Environmental Data Program

The Marine Environmental Data Section of Fisheries and Oceans Canada manages and archives certain types of oceanographic data.

This data is collected by our department and acquired through programs conducted in ocean areas near Canada.

Data requests

We provide real-time, near real-time and historical data and data products to the marine community. You may request data by categories, including:

  • location
  • date range
  • geographic area

We may also be able to provide data from other parameters, such as:

  • depth range
  • location name
  • collecting instrument or ship

The Canadian primary area of interest is 35 to 90 degrees north latitude and 40 to 180 degrees west longitude.

The area of interest is global for some specialized data types and programs.
